Landscape: Carl W. Heindl
Carl Heindl: For my 21st birthday, my father took me on a trip with him to Las Vegas seven years ago. I was more interested in driving out to the Nevada desert, we drove and drove and I snapped this photo at a tourist rest stop on the trail. I think it captures the the mammoth scale of the area, and the time it takes to take it all in. It was raining that day which was rare for the desert and it made for some spectacular shots. It is one of my all time favorite memories.
